BIO

Geraldine Guterman Kuroda was born in 1992 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is currently based in Buenos Aires. She is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in painting and collage, using media such as watercolor, oil on paper, and a range of archival and found materials. She is best known for a distinctive figurative language that constructs layered visual landscapes, evoking both personal and collective memory.

Her work explores themes of memory, identity, and territory, with a particular focus on the emotional weight of belonging and the affective traces embedded in public space and postcolonial histories. Guterman Kuroda’s practice is characterized by a poetic and critical approach to visual language, often engaging with site-specific materials and ephemera. Among her most significant bodies of work are Kaeru, to merely be (in) the world, developed during her residency in Japan, and La ví(d)a pública, an ongoing series that reconfigures discarded fragments from urban environments into analog cartographies of collective memory.

Geraldine Guterman Kuroda has exhibited her work at Bridge Studio in Kyoto, Japan; Galería Agencia and Galería Palermo H in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her work is held in various private national collections. She was selected for the 2025 Bridge Studio Residency and has participated in major cultural platforms, including the 3° Bienal de Diseño as a judge (2017) and the 2° Bienal Nacional de Diseño as a selected artist (2015). From 2021 to 2025, she was a researcher in the American Art Institute, contributing to the critical study of contemporary visual culture.
